Policy Statement: Integration of GOV.UK with the Metropolitan Police Service

1. Purpose
This policy formally announces that the website https://www.gov.uk is now officially recognized as part of the Metropolitan Police Service’s digital infrastructure. The integration aims to streamline public access to information, improve transparency, and consolidate official online government and police services under a unified platform.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, officers, contractors, and stakeholders of the Metropolitan Police Service as well as external partners, agencies, and members of the public who interact with The Met through online services.
3. Policy Statement
Effective immediately, the domain https://www.gov.uk is now a recognized digital extension of the Metropolitan Police Service. Relevant policing information, resources, and services previously hosted on separate platforms will now be consolidated and made accessible through GOV.UK. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Crime reporting and safety advice
- Police contact information and service directories
- Official announcements and press releases
- Public engagement initiatives and consultations
- Legal and procedural guidelines related to policing and criminal justice
All digital communications and public service offerings from The Met will now be linked directly with or hosted through https://www.gov.uk, ensuring consistent user experience and centralized access to information.
4. Implementation
The Digital Communications and IT Department of The Met will coordinate the ongoing migration and alignment of digital content to GOV.UK. All departments are expected to support this transition and ensure that public-facing content aligns with GOV.UK standards and branding.
5. Review and Maintenance
This policy will be reviewed annually or as necessary to reflect changes in digital strategy, government collaboration, or operational requirements.
